Yesterdayeducationsupportpublished their Teacher Wellbeing Index 2023, and it’s a worrying read.

⚠ Over three quarters of education staff are stressed with symptoms of burnout and depression on the rise (3% increase on 2022).
In addition, 89% of senior leaders and 95% of head teachers report feeling stressed.

⚠ 36% of school teachers reported experiencing burnout (9% increase on 2022)

⚠ 51% have insomnia or difficulty sleeping (up 6%)

Schools Weekhas reported that more than a third of senior leaders were actively looking to leave education citing workload as the main reason. Full time primary teachers are reporting working more than 52 hours a week on average.

⚠ School leaders and staff play a crucial role in supporting children and young peoples mental health and their wellbeing needs to be a priority in order for then to fulfill this role. There is a clear in immediate need to support the mental health and wellbeing of education staff.
