Brew Monday
It’s more important than ever to take the time to reach out, check in and connect with the people we care about 💚
That’s why Promote Mental Health are supporting @Samaritans #BrewMonday to help debunk the myth around ‘Blue Monday’. People can feel low any day of the year, and what better way to check in with those you care about than sitting down with a warming cuppa! ☕
For years the 3rd Monday of January was known as Blue Monday! It's cold, we are back into our routines, we still haven't reached pay day and it's a challenging time of year. But there is a big shift away from this very dated concept.
In recent years there has been a huge move to viewing this day, and time of year, more positively. Samaritans see this as an opportunity to check in on those around us.
At Promote Mental Health we view January as a really positive time of year.
There are lower expectations on us all as it's a tough month. Why not embrace this and be kind to yourself and others.
There is so much to be said for wrapping up warm and getting outside. A brisk walk can do wonders for our motivation and wellbeing.
Wrapping up warm inside and enjoying home comforts: a hot water bottle, hot chocolate, tucking ourselves under a blanket and enjoying a good book.
We can reinvent ourselves in terms of hobbies. What do I really enjoy doing at home? Is there something I love doing which I don't have time for when I'm out and about in the Spring and Summer?
This month has been a tough one as I saw New Year in with a horrible virus which has lingered. I caught up for a cuppa with a dear friend on Friday, I have given myself time to rest and reflect, I have found huge power in daily walks for wellbeing, I am organising a small part of our house each day (something I don't have time for in the summer) and I've revisited learning to knit!
What could you do today to look after yourself?
Can you check in on those around you?
Can you share a brew with someone today and see how they are doing? This could be face to face or even virtual!
Take care of yourself in January - rest and refresh yourself to face the rest of the year.
