It has been wonderful to interact and connect with so many people this week following our post around suicide prevention on Monday, so I thought it would be nice to re-introduce myself and what I do.
I am the Founder and Lead Trainer of Promote Mental Health; a Chartered Health Psychologist and I’ve worked in mental health for over 20 years.
My initial interest in mental health came from a book I read on relaxation techniques that was published in 1991! It talked about the links between emotional, behavioural, and psychological symptoms of stress at home and in the workplace. I think it was way ahead of its time, and I was fascinated!
I started out working in research at the University of Cambridgewhere I learnt about the clinical side of mental health and the benefits of various treatments.
I then worked in the NHSand local authority for 14 years in Public Health raising awareness of mental health. My work was initially measured on local suicide rates, which now seems way off in terms of the preventative work we were doing, but was all going in the right direction.
Over the course of my life, I’ve also had my own personal experiences of mental illness, which have given me huge insights into mental health that you don’t get from a text book or even working in the field.
In 2019 I set up Promote Mental Healtha mental health training and consultancy business which is now my key focus.
✅ We offer training and consultancy on mental health and wellbeing to business and organisations.
✅ Our aim is to upskill, empower and embed the work we do within the organisation. We don’t want mental health to be a tick box exercise, instead embedding it into the workplace culture and wellbeing of the organisation.
✅ All our training is based on the most up to date research on Behavioural Science and National guidance.
✅ We offer training on Mental Health First Aid, Refresher training and MHFA support networks.
✅ We also specialise in bespoke training to meet the needs of your organisation. This can focus on mental health awareness, stress management, wellbeing, coping with change, stress, resilience, self-care and work life balance.
✅ We are embedding our work in many different sectors including: Medical and Health professionals, Education staff, the Police Force and Prison Service, HR, IT, Biotech and Community and Voluntary groups
